UPDATE - Tyne Bridge protest reaches third day

Simon Anderton’s third day atop the Tyne Bridge seems to be having the desired effect of getting Fathers 4 Justice talked about, albeit not necessarily in the way the protester hoped.
While banners on the bridge are nothing new, a dummy hung by its neck and swinging in the breeze is causing considerable upset.

UPDATE - Protester spends night on Tyne bridge

Fathers 4 Justice campaigner Simon Anderton has spent his first night atop the Tyne bridge, after scaling the bridge yesterday morning.
24 hours after Anderton’s protest began, his Father’s Day banner and a dummy hung by its neck were still visible on the east face of the bridge and to traffic passing underneath.

A member of Fathers 4 Justice scaled the Tyne Bridge in protest at unfair paternity rights for fathers. As of 8pm tonight, Simon Anderton has shown no signs of leaving his position on the East face of the bridge.

Woman killed near Central Station

The BBC are reporting the death of a pedestrian, struck by a bus near Central Station.
The 88 year-old woman was hit by the QuayLink bus on Bewick Street, next to Saint Mary’s Cathedral, yesterday afternoon.
