PREVIEW - party time for Angel of the North
By Paul Smith • Jun 21st, 2008 • Category: events
10 years ago, the idea of a party to celebrate the Angel of the North would have gone down like a bag of spanners.
Now we’ve come to accept the towering, if somewhat rusting beauty as part of our heritage, a 10th birthday bash seems entirely appropriate.
Gateshead Council have organised the free birthday party for tomorrow between 11.00am and 6.30pm. It takes place at the Angel itself and will involve dozens of events as well as live music from The Hot House Flowers and local turn The Baghdaddies.
Several hundred people are expected, so a free park and ride service will be laid on from Gateshead Civic Centre, with buses running to and from the site from 10.50am to 7.20pm.
