PREVIEW - the Bootleg Beatles, Newcastle University
By Paul Smith • Jun 20th, 2008 • Category: events, music
The Bootleg Beatles should have enjoyed global success, record sales in the millions and debauchery on a scale unimaginable. Sadly, they were too slow on the uptake by a couple of decades and beaten to the spoils by the Beatles themselves.
Let this not detract from the spectacular show laid on by the other Fab Four, which you can enjoy tomorrow night at Newcastle University Student Union.
Since forming in 1980, the Bootleg Beatles have managed to break into the mainstream in their own right, sharing the bill with David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Oasis.
The Union is donating all profits from the gig to the Wallsend Boys Club, revered local charity and birth place of Alan Shearer’s professional career and countless other footballers.
Tickets cost £18 in advance - see the Union Society website for more details.
