Shhh… the Tyneside Cinema is having a ball

By Paul Smith • Oct 1st, 2008 • Category: events

Of course The Secret Policeman’s Ball is neither a secret (although if it is, it’s not very well kept), nor a policeman’s ball. It is of course an annual gig to raise both the funds and the profile of Amnesty International.

Originating in 1976 (under the title of A Poke In The Eye With A Sharp Stick), the event features world-class comedians and music, that enjoys a following around the world.

This year’s Secret Policeman’s Ball will be broadcast live by the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle on Saturday evening, the first to be broadcast at the venue live via satellite.

Tickets for the event are £17.50 full price, £14.50 concessions/students, and available to buy online.
