There was drama in Newcastle this morning following an armed robbery at a city centre jewellers.
The Evening Chronicle reports that three hooded men entered Berrys Jewellers at Grey’s Monument after 10 o’clock.
One of the men pointed a gun at the chest of the shop assistant, while the others smashed glass cases with hammers.
According to an eye-witness, the robbers fled from the jewellers down Grey Street. Nobody was hurt in the raid but several thousands pounds’ worth of Cartier watches were stolen.
