Man killed by Metro at Tyneside station

The Evening Chronicle is reporting a 27 year old man was killed by a Metro train this morning.
The train, which was from Newcastle to the coast at the time, struck the man just outside West Monkseaton station at around 10.20am.
A Nexus spokesperson told the paper: “A person was killed in a collision with one of our trains at about 10.20am today at West Monkseaton Metro Station.
“The emergency services were called immediately and trains were suspended between Benton and Monskseaton.
“An investigation is under way to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.”
