- A driver had a lucky escape after a rock was hurled at his windscreen as he drove through Boldon in the early hours of this morning.
- If you want to go Green by the seaside tomorrow, the Big Green Seaside Day is being held at Whitley Bay Metro station on Saturday between 10am and 4pm, showcasing sustainable living against a green-themed entertainment programme. Friends of the Earth, North Tyneside Council, the Energy Savings Trust and Nexus have organised the event.
- Hell’s Kitchen winner Terry Miller is selling his upmarket Rockafella restaurant in Newcastle, which opened just three years ago, due to the increasing cost of food.
- Police in North Tyneside are continuing their efforts to get tough on knife crime by using an electronic security arch at Four Lane Ends Metro station. Is this beginning to feel a little too Orwellian?
