Newcastle news - legs, cracks, fringes and sunshine

By Paul Smith • Aug 24th, 2008 • Category: news

- Our favourite leggy tv news presenter (after Jonathan Morrell, naturally) Philippa Tomson has told the Sunday Sun she was targeted by an obsessive stalker who bombarded her with sick letters and harassed her at her own home.

- More still needs to be done to help film companies create a vibrant and sustainable film industry in the north east, according to up and coming filmmakers.

- Northumbria Police has recovered 39 knives since the start of a stop-and-search crackdown in the region.

- Tyneside’s Sarah Millican won the Best Newcomer award at this Year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

- And the official word on the weather for Bank Holiday Monday? Surely it can’t be sunny, can it? Well, at the time of typing, yes actually. Of course it could go horribly wrong. That’s why they’re called predictions and not weather schedules. That’s a scientific fact, ladies and gentleman.
