- The Duke of Northumberland’s £30 million revamp of Prudhoe town centre will go ahead, despite protests from local retailers.
- A Newcastle man has appeared in court after he was found in possession of hand grenades in Annitsford.
- A cabbie was robbed of his taxi in Jarrow, after picking up two men from Caledonian Street. When he arrived, one of the men – believed to be drunk – fell to the ground. The driver got out of his car to help him, but as he did the men jumped into the Mazda and drove off.
