- Harton Technology College in South Shields has been forced to close its doors after about 40 staff fell ill with suspected food poisoning.
- Parts of the Metro system remain closed after severe flooding this weekend. The service is suspended until further notice between Newcastle Airport and Kingston Park. At one point on Saturday, both airport platforms were submerged by water.
- The exodus at Newcastle United continued today when assistant manager Terry McDermott and reserve team coach Adam Sadler were dismissed from the club.
- And yes, the headline was literal; New Kids On The Block have revealed details of the UK leg of their comeback tour in January 2009, which includes a sate at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on 29th January. Go get ‘em, girls.
