The parents of murdered Newcastle students Zhen Xing Yang and Xi Zhou made emotional appeals through the media today, after formally identifying their children at the weekend.
Speaking through a translator, Sanbao Zhou, father of Xi Zhou and Shu Zhen Qu, mother of Zhen Zing Yang spoke of their “hearts been broken” by the deaths of the couple last month.
“Our happiness, fortune and hopes are all gone with the loss of these two lovely children,” said Shu Zhen Qu. “While we are here, we ask people with a kind heart to provide information to the police so that they can arrest the murderer as soon as possible.
“It will reassure all the parents who have children studying abroad.”
“When we were informed of the death of our daughter we almost lost the will to live,” said Sanbao Zhou. “However we cannot do that as the murderer of out daughter is still at large. I am determined to catch the murderer.
“I have no doubt the murderer will be arrested and my daughter will have the justice she deserves.”
Despite appeals to Chinese communities in Newcastle and London, international media coverage and a reconstruction on BBC1’s Crimewatch last week, no arrests have been made in connection with the double murder.
