Exclusive - Police attacked in Newcastle’s Bigg Market?

Pedestrians were caught up in the arrest of two individuals who allegedly assaulted a police officer in Newcastle city centre yesterday evening.
According to eye-witnesses who contacted newcastlecentric.com, the two men were involved in an altercation with a group of girls near the Bigg Market.
A police officer who chased the two individuals was then allegedly assaulted, say pedestrians at the scene.
A group of passers-by aided in the capture and retention of the suspects until police back-up arrived.
The incident occurred at yesterday evening just before 7:30pm in an alley near to Newcastle’s Bigg Market.
