Second day of delays on Metro system

Don’t count on the Metro getting you anywhere on time today - that’s the message from Nexus for a second day in a row.
A signalling fault found in Gateshead yesterday morning means engineers are currently working to replace nearly a kilometre of cable. Fewer trains are running, meaning overcrowding across the system and delays of up to half an hour.
A Nexus spokesperson told the Chronicle: “Trains are running to all destinations, but not to timetable. We reduced peak services so there were fewer trains.”
A statement on their website reads: “Services are disrupted throughout Metro’s network dues to damage to signal cables between Gateshead and Gateshead Stadium stations.
“As a result of the damage trains are having to pass through the area at slow speeds - this is causing delays to all trains.”
