South Shields woman dies in Ibiza balcony fall

A woman from South Shields has died after falling from an apartment balcony while on holiday in Ibiza.
Carla Newman’s body was found in the early hours of Monday outside the apartment in the resort of San Antonio.
Spanish newspapers reported that the 22-year-old fell to her death while trying to climb between two balconies on the second floor.
According to The Shields Gazette, emergency services tried for more than 30 minutes to resuscitate Miss Newman, who worked at the Riverside Children’s Centre in Garrick Street, but were unable to save her.
Police are investigating the incident and waiting for the results of a post-mortem.
