August Bank Holiday Monday on Tyneside - folk always get a little excitable, don’t they?

Northumbria Police were at it again with their 50,000 volt taser guns on Rydal Road in Gosforth, after a woman was found with serious facial injuries.

Police used the taser to subdue a man to prevent further violence, according to a spokesperson. The man was arrested and both were taken to hospital for their injuries, sustained before the man’s arrest.

Meanwhile, over the river in Wrekenton, police negotiators were dealing with an armed siege after a 19 year old armed with a knife went into a house.

The property on Lanchester Avenue was surrounded by police but the man refused to come out for three hours. He was arrested over the incident, which according to The Chronicle started as a domestic incident.
